The players' guide to online casinos

Playtech Premier French Roulette

Premier French Roulette

Premier French Roulette is basically “European Roulette” which has only one zero (0) unlike American Roulette which has two, a zero(0) and a double zero (00). This gives a slight edge to the player since each spin has a 1 in 37 chance of landing on any one number rather than 1 in 38. The other big difference that makes this game so “French” is that it features a series of standard combination bets, known as “Announce Bets” that are popular with French roulette players in particular. These include Voisins, Tier and Orphelin bets (which are explained in our Beginners Guide to Roulette). To keep up the mystique of the great casinos of the French-speaking world, such as Monaco, all bets have been given French names in this game. A standard bet on one single number is a “Plein”. If you put your chips on the border of two numbers, betting on both it’s called a “Cheval” rather than a Split Bet. A split between three numbers is a “Transversale Pleine” (Street) and between four is a “Carre” (Corner).

Other more obvious French names for typical combination bets are the “Douzaine” (Dozen Bet, a bet on the first, second or third dozen numbers), Rouge/Noir (Red/Black), Pair / Impair (Even / Odd Bet) and Manque (1-18) / Passe (19-36) (Low / High Bet).
