Playing Tens or Better Video Poker

Played against the computer, Tens or Better Video Poker gives you a chance to gain an advantage over the house. This game is ideal to give beginners a chance to learn the nuances of video poker. With a simple screen layout, and big cards, this game is guaranteed to provide hours of exciting fun.

The game is very simple, and its objective is to make a winning combination from the five-card deal. The difference between Tens or Better Video Poker and Jacks or Better Video Poker is that the minimum winning hand is a pair of tens or better. This difference gives the game its name.

You're allowed to place a bet between one and five coins per deal. The denomination of the coins depends on the machine you choose. Once the bet is wagered, the computer deals a set of five cards. You then chooses up to five cards as the discard. The computer then reshuffles the pack, and replaces the discarded cards with fresh cards. Your hand is then checked for a winning combination. If there is a winning combination, the payout is decided according to the payout table with the highest payout being 800 coins for a Royal Flush. The probability of holding this hand is of 0.000026. The lowest payout is for a pair of tens or better, which has a reward of one coin, and the probability of holding this hand is 0.254368.

If there is a winning hand, you can then opt to double the earnings. If the double option is chosen, the computer deals out a set of four cards face down. The dealer also selects one card as the dealer’s card, and the player chooses one of the four cards as the player’s card. The player’s card is then compared to computer’s choice. There are three possible scenarios: You hold a higher card, the computer holds a higher card or both cards are equal. If you hold the higher card, the winnings are doubled. If the computer’s card is higher, you lose the winnings, and if the cards are equal, the game is replayed until either you or the computer holds a higher card.
